Our Intercessor

Read Psalms 107:1–43; 126:1–6

Carl was looking for a new job, because he wanted a greater challenge and he was willing to relocate. He applied to numerous companies in an area where he thought he wanted to live. He received some inquiries, but with no success. He became discouraged, began to sulk, but then he began to pray for guidance. Another company, he had forgotten about, came to mind. He applied, and to his surprise, he received a phone call from them and they flew him to an interview. They not only hired him, but also paid for his relocation costs. Once there, he became involved in a church he came to love and made many Christian friends, including the woman he eventually married.

Carl initially tried to take everything in his own hands to work toward his goal, becoming weary and frustrated. But a nudge from the Holy Spirit, after he took the time to pray, put him on the right road and to opportunities he never imagined.

We try to work hard to orchestrate our life and forget that God has a plan that is far better than we realized (Psalm 107:7). He works in our behalf to put us in the place He knows will bring us to a closer relationship with Him.

Thought for Today: God is very aware of our circum
stances and He is working on our behalf.

We’re your friends, daughters, coworkers, neighbors and the strangers you pass every day, but don’t think for one moment that we’re exactly like you. We’re twentysomethings—bright, sassy, educated—and learning (sometimes the hard way) to survive and thrive in the real world. You may think you know us, but if it has been a few years since you legitimately called yourself a twentysomething—because those “twentysomething forever” bumper stickers eventually fade in the sun—then you may need to think again.

  • What If We Love Each Other?
Is it really wrong to have sex outside of marriage? What if it would actually make the relationship stronger? Professor Theophilus tackles this question in his latest column.
  • For Better or Worse…Mostly Worse
